Nonlocal pulse shaping with entangled photon pairs.
Nonlocal shaping effects in the time or spectral profiles of an entangled photon pair emerging from a pulsed parametric down-converter are observed by spectrally or temporally filtering one of the twin beams. In particular, we demonstrate the appearance of fourth-order ("ghost") interference fringes in the spectrum of one beam conditioned by photodetection at the output of an unbalanced Michels...
متن کاملFemtosecond spectroscopy with vacuum ultraviolet pulse pairs.
We combine different wavelengths from an intense high-order harmonics source with variable delay at the focus of a split-mirror interferometer to conduct pump-probe experiments on gas-phase molecules. We report measurements of the time resolution (<44 fs) and spatial profiles (4 μm × 12 μm) at the focus of the apparatus. We demonstrate the utility of this two-color, high-order-harmonic techniqu...
متن کاملPulse-by-pulse Energy Measurement at the Stanford Linear Collider*
The Stanford Linear Collider (SLC) collides a beam of electrons and positrons at 92 GeV. It is the first colliding linac, and produces Zo particles for High-Energy Physics measurements. The energy of each beam must be measured to one part in lo4 on every collision (120 Hz). An Energy Spectrometer in each beam line after collision produces two stripes of highenergy synchrotron radiation with cri...
متن کاملCoastal and Maritime Tourism
Coastal tourism refers to land-based tourism activities including swimming, surfing, sunbathing and other coastal recreation activities taking place on the coast for which the proximity to the sea is a condition including also their respective services. Maritime tourism refers to sea-based activities such as boating, yachting, cruising, nautical sports as well as their land-based services and i...
متن کاملPhase-locked soliton pairs in a stretched-pulse fiber laser.
We report the experimental observation of stable pulse pairs with a +/-pi/2 phase difference in a passively mode-locked stretched-pulse fiber ring laser. In our setup the stabilization of interacting subpicosecond pulses is obtained with a large range of pulse separations, namely, from 2.7 to 10 ps, without the need for external control.
